There are two hostels in the campus one for Gents and another for Ladies.Students seeking accommodation in hostel should mention this by writing “HOSTEL” in capital letters at the top of front page of their application form at the time of applying for admission into the college. Selection for admission to hostels is made strictly on the basis of merit. A. RULES OF HOSTELS (a) No boarder is permitted to change his seat without the permission of the Superintendent. (b) Study hours shall be strictly observed on all days during the session from 7 A.M. to 9 A.M. & 7 P.M. to 9P.M. except festive days. (c) Absence from hostel for a day or more shall be intimated to the Hostel Office / Superintendent. (d) Every boarder is responsible for the care of Hostel property he uses. Boarders will be charged for all damages caused to the hostel property used by them individually or collectively. (e) Only light for reading purposes and ceiling fans are provided by hostel. Every boarder leaving his room even for a few minutes has to switch off the light supplied to him. Boarders are not permitted to use any electrical appliances (such as heater) other than light and fan. Boarders will make their own arrangement for electric bulbs. (f) In order to safeguard against theft, boarders are advised to use strong type of locks. (g) No ward-servant or any other hostel or mess employee can be asked by a boarder to do any job exclusive of personal nature. (h) A boarder is not allowed to keep any visitor in his room during the study hours or at night. Visitors are not allowed to see the boarders in their rooms during study hours. In cases of emergency, a visitor should wait at the entrance with intimation to the boarder concerned and the boarder will come to meet him. (i) Only in exceptional circumstances, the natural guardian of a boarder may be permitted, with previous sanction from the superintendent, to reside in the hostel for one night provided that his visit has reference to the interest or welfare of the boarder. (j) Hostel TV shall not be played loudly at any time so as to cause disturbance to the boarders of the adjacent rooms. The daily newspapers meant for the common room shall not go outside or to any room of the boarders. B. The following shall be considered as breach of discipline: a) Absence from hostel without leave. b) Continuous neglect of studies. c) Want of cleanliness and tidiness in the rooms. d) Sitting outside the rooms and the verandahs e) Singing or playing of any musical instruments, except during specific hours. f) Making a noise. g) Cycling on the verandahs. h) Writing or in any other way disfiguring the walls, doors or windows of the building. i) Holding any meeting in the hostel without the approval of the Superintendent j) Calling bad names or showing any other derogatory behavior towards the hostel and mess employees. k) Use of heaters in the rooms. l) Seeing video-film in the rooms or common room after 12.00 midnights. m) Use of drugs, intoxicants or consumption of alcoholic drinks. n) Smoking inside the hostel premises. o) Ragging in any form.. p) Misconduct of any other description. C. A student shall cease to be a boarder of the hostel in the following cases and then he shall be required to vacate the hostel with his belongings (a) From the date of taking his C.L.C. (b) Within Two days after the completion for Final Examination of +3 Ist year, 2nd year and 3rd year and +2 2nd year Classes. (c) In case a student does not appear at the final examination due to him, he has to leave the hostel within two days from the date of commencement of the examination. (d) The boardership of a student will cease if he defaults payment of hostel dues and college dues for a period of two consecutive months. (e) Boarders are not allowed to keep cars or motorcycles in the hostel. If anybody keeps it, he can d o so at his own risk and with the prior permission of superintendent. (f) Boarders causing physical or mental torture to any other boarder shall forfeit their seats in the hostel and will have to vacate the hostel. D. Residence committee A Committee consisting of the Principal, Vice- Principal, the Superintendents and other members shall constitute the Residence Committee to frame guidelines and policy relating to admission and management of all hostels of the College. Members 1. The Principal is the ex-officio Chief Superintendent of all Hostels. 2. Superintendents of all Hostels. 3. Assistant Superintendents of all Hostels. 4. The Vice-Principal. 5. The Accounts Bursar and any other member as nominated by the Principal. Functions of Residence Committee 1. The Residence Committee will discuss and fix mess charges and establishment charges to be collected from boarders during an academic session. 2. It will discuss about the remuneration of hostel workers and their duties. They will see to it that parity is maintained between workers of different hostels as far as practicable. 3. All decision taken in the Residence Committee should be communicated to the members of the committee individually through circulation. 4. Important decisions of the Residence Committee are to be incorporated in the college Calendar. 5. Vice-Principal will act as the convener of the Residence Committee and he will be responsible for the circulation of the minutes of the meetings. 6. The Residence Committee may requisition the services of a teacher of commerce department/Economic department/ Govt. Auditor for conducting annual audit of the hostels. 7. During audit of hostel accounts, the following registers should be presented to the audit team for verification. a) Hostel Cash Book b) Hostel Receipt Book c) Guard file showing all vouchers day-wise and month wise. d) Bank Pass Book and other deposits. e) Acquaintance Register of hostel employee. f) Mess Register (Daily Meal Register) g) Refund of Caution Money Register. h) Stock Register. 8. The Residence Committee should meet at least thrice during an academic session. |
